AZ Girls’ Pint Out turns 1

Last night Arizona Girls’ Pint Out turned one with a great little get-together of loyal beer-lovin’ ladies at the place where it all started, Sun Up Brewing Co.

The evening began with dinner, pints, and a chance to name the Märzen brewed specially by Sun Up brewer Uwe for the one year anniversary of AZ Girls’ Pint Out.  There was a ton of sweet schwag to be won through a very fun and animated raffle where everyone managed to win at least one (and in some cases five or six) item from the table.  Crispin/Fox Barrel donated some cool glassware and Papago Brewing provided multiple styles of t-shirts in a fantastic show of support.  Around 7:30, before the men were allowed to join us, Maureen selected a name for the new brew.  And while many people wanted to name it some variation of Mama Mo’s or Mama Maureen’s, she was very humble and instead selected May Milestone Märzen, created by Mel (pictured below), in honor of the group’s first anniversary.  Later, she admitted with a smile – along with most of the ladies – that she would probably refer to it endearingly as Mama Mo’s.  Once the name was selected and the raffle prizes were picked clean, we opened the doors and the guys made sure to try the new brew in honor of AZ Girls’ Pint Out.

Lots of raffle prizes to be won thanks to Crispin/Fox Barrel and Papago Brewing!

The awesome glasses for AZ Girls’ Pint Out’s first anniversary designed by Maureen’s husband, Hunter (they look great!)

The newly (and officially!) named May Milestone Märzen brewed specially for AZ Girls’ Pint Out’s one year anniversary

Mel’s name (May Milestone Märzen) was selected as the official name of the beer brewed specially for the one year anniversary

Let the raffling begin! Everyone won at least once (and in some cases, 5 or 6 times!)

Cheers to an amazing first year and here’s to many more!  I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our awesome group of beer-lovin’ ladies.

Thanks so much to Maureen Basenberg, founder of the Arizona chapter of Girls’ Pint Out, for dedicating so much time and effort into making this group what it is today (especially with your little baby on the way!)!  Many thanks also to the local breweries, bars, restaurants, and distributors, as well as the Arizona Society of Homebrewers for supporting the group and its efforts in spreading knowledge and the love of beer across the valley to so many fantastic women.

  1. I might have to stop reading your blog because I already know I should live in Scottsdale but now you’re making me think that I should be a girl living in Scottsdale!

Looks like it was another great event. Not surprised Papago hooked you up.
